"The most important things in life aren't things" - Anon

This is me...Moira Forsyth

Hi, I'm Moira. this is me with my family who I love to bits... and I'm in love with yoga too. I share hatha yoga through classes in Dumfries and Annan and offer yoga for pregnancy in Dumfries as well, and it is my mission to make the good people of Dumfries and Galloway fall in love with yoga too!

I am stereotypical in that I was drawn to yoga for the physical benefits - too tired to leap around gyms and starting to feel my body ageing and creaking,  I wanted something to keep me more supple, tone my body but in a restful way. It didn't take me long to realise that there was so much more to yoga than a few backbends and leg stretches. I could feel the difference that conscious breathing (a core part of yoga classes) made , not only in helping me in and out of the postures but also to my everyday mental attitude. I am not only much happier in my own skin (I see huge differences in my physical ability that yoga has made) but working with the breath and meditation has also shown me that yoga is the ultimate way of  "sewing" mind. body and spirit. Am sure my family benefit from me not being so stressed and shouty too!

I’m not a keep-fit fanatic, I’m not a knit-your-own-sandals yogi either (although total respect if you are either of those!). I work, I have a husband and three  growing-up children, a menagerie of animals and a house to run, I like a glass of wine and a good laugh and there are just never enough hours in the day….sound familiar? Well, yoga has really helped me to cope with all of that and has given me a whole new outlook on life and be generally accepting that things are the way they are.....

I can now safely say yoga is my life. And because it has made such a difference to me I have decided to teach yoga to others in Dumfries and Galloway in the hope that they too will make yoga a part of their lives too. And I love teaching yoga for pregnancy and seeing yoga help mums-to-be have a peaceful pregnancy and prepare for birth. Ok.. Sermon over!!!!

I trained with Yoga Scotland for three years and then undertook the British Wheel of Yoga Pre- and Post-Natal advanced course. But over the years I've dabbled with a number of amazing teachers such as Sophy Hoare, Brad Warner (Zen Meditation), Zoe Knott and the amazing Mr Jason Crandell,

(My Yoga Shed  - where peace happens!)

I love the way yoga makes me feel, and its a practice that attracts a lovely, varied bunch of people. I don't like to think I'm teaching, I'm just sharing my lovel of yoga and my little knowledge with you so that we can practice together. Simples! So for me, and I hope will be for you, yoga is more than a weekly class or two….its a way of life.

So if you live in Dumfries and Galloway and you have a notion to give yoga a try then feel free to come along to one of my classes. Hope to meet you soon.

Om Shanti,
