Meet Your Hosts
Catherine Jackson and Moira Forsyth have been collaborating on Peaceful Pregnancy in the Dumfries & Galloway area for over 3 years to bring the benefits of yoga and hypnobirthing to expectant mums and their families. You can read about the many mammas they have helped on their Facebook page Peaceful Pregnancy in Dumfries and Galloway but here’s more about them.
I’m Moira and I’m the mum of three now adults and have been practicing yoga since they were little and its the best thing I ever did.
Yoga is over 3,000 years old and is a self-help system which promotes mental and physical well-being. During your pregnancy and birth you will experience great physical and emotional changes so we use yoga to help your body adapt to pregnancy, help get baby into the right position and prepare for the physical demands of labour and beyond.
During this weekend I will work with you to teach you how to use your breath to help you relax, cope with stressful situations and maximise the capacity of our lungs , and you will experience the wonderful art of meditation to relax your mind and prepare for the myriad of emotions that come with pregnancy, labour and becoming a mum!
But for many of my mammas the best bit is the relaxation techniques where you will learn how to just let go. And every body is a yoga body. You don’t need to be bendy, or lythe to practice yoga, it’s not a religion and you don’t need to be a hippy either (although total respect if you are!) Pregnancy is so short and it’s such a special time so all we want through Peaceful Pregnancy is help make your experience a good one.
Catherine has been teaching hypnobirthing for 14 years since using the technique for the birth of both her children. By day she’s a speech and language therapist. Her expertise lies in early language development and attachment. “For me, hypnobirthing is the earliest introduction to language development as communication develops even before birth.”
During the retreat, Catherine will introduce guests to the concept of hypnobirthing, practice deep relaxation and encouraging bonding between mother and baby.
Catherine has been attended training by Marie Mongan, Michel Odent and Ina Mae Gaskin, all experts in the field of gentle birth.
